In the light of SOPA and PIPA and the general undemocratic nastiness of the music industry, in my view more people should consider buying second hand cd's instead of new ones from major labels (I know some have to buy new in the first place - but it would limit the amount of money they screw out of people and maybe it may give them a moment to pause for thought) and certainly don't purchase mp3s (who in their right mind would spend £7 or more on a mp3 download of questionable quality, no physical product and is just an excuse for record companies to extort more money for less product)

It is very sad news that Mick Karn former bass player for Japan and founding member of Dali's Car, has lost his battle with cancer, he was only 52. As well as being a musician he was also a sculptor and photographer.

He has also played with many artists including Gary Numan, Kate Bush and Joan Armatrading to name a few. It had been reported last year that he had been diagnosed with advanced cancer, I had been hoping that he would be able to overcome it, as I am sure many others hoped. Cancer is, as I have said before one of the most cruelest diseases man kind faces, and much more effort should be put into finding cures.

A truly well deserved award :). (another notable award was Annie Lennox becoming an OBE).

Well the year is almost over, I got to see some great shows in 2010, some events were a little sad such as a-ha as a group being no more, their show was great and hopefully I will get around to posting some pictures I captured of the event.

Here is to 2011 and hopefully some more great shows (I should be seeing Gary Numan and Recoil in Manchester early next year - it being rescheduled from this year) and to great music - it's a little harder to find amongst all the tat around nowadays, but it is out there.

Great news for Claudia Brucken fans, an expanded 2 cd re issue of "Love And A Million Other Things". The album is the only solo album to date from Claudia Brücken, electronic pop siren and lead singer of Propaganda, the band NME described as the 'Duel' in ZTT Records' crown.

Originally released in 1991, the album includes the singles 'Absolut[e]', 'Kiss Like Ether' and 'Fanatic', cowritten with godfather of electronic music Thomas Leer, with whom Claudia formed the cult ZTT band Act in the late 80s.

This expanded reissue includes the original album plus 10 bonus tracks covering all the singles, B-sides and remixes of the era.

Other artists featured on the album include Glenn Gregory (Heaven 17), Steve Jansen (Japan), John Uriel (ABC, Thomas Lang), Steve Nye (Penguin Cafe Orchestra), and singers Claudia Fontaine and Carol Kenyon.

Three tracks are released on CD for the first time, including Pascal Gabriel's promo-only 12" Bastille Mix of 'Absolut [e]'.

Bury - The Fall

The Fall have unveiled their first video for many years for the track Bury, which is available now as a single through Domino Records (RUG363), the single is taken from the album Your Future Our Clutter (WIG245).

To quote Domino's website -

D.N.A., a new double disc, CD & DVD release by John Foxx, which is exclusively available through Townsend Records. This features unique collaborations between Foxx and some of his favourite film-makers, with all of the short movies on the DVD being made especially for this project.

Collaborations aplenty including Harold Budd, Ruben Garcia, Steve D'Agostino and ex-Japan percussionist Steve Jansen.

The cd features all the music for the films plus tracks that Foxx had recorded as 'possibilities' for soundtracks. Featuring stunning artwork designed by Jonathan Barnbook, who has previously worked with Damien Hirst and also David Bowie, designing the sleeve and inner booklet for his Heathen album in 2002.
