RIP Gerry Anderson, MBE
(born Gerald Alexander Abrahams)
(14 April 1929 – 26 December 2012)
I don't think there can be many people who won't have fond memories of watching the many creations of Gerry Anderson as a child (or indeed as an Adult) he will be sorely missed.
RIP Sir Patrick Alfred Caldwell-Moore CBE, FRS, FRAS
(4 March 1923 – 9 December 2012)
Probably got more people interested in Astronomy than anyone else, he truly was a one of a kind.

For those in the UK, or those with access to BBC Four, the channel has been airing some interesting music programmes, among them The Joy Of The Single, Ultimate Number 1's at the BBC - featuring performances from T-Rex, The Bee Gees and more, it does get a little talentless towards the end featuring a handful of todays artists, but this can be forgiven for the many great performances from the era when the single really was king. The pick of the bunch for me, however has to be Sound It Out - a documentary portrait of one of the last independently trading vinyl record shops in Teeside.
